Siouxland Car Council
I thought I'd share a little history with you about the Siouxland Car Council.
PAST: The first Wheels For Charity car show was held on October 4, 1986 at Howard Johnson's Motor Lodge. This first show has been quickly organized in September by members of the Tri-State Classic Chevy Club. It was for the benefit of Niki and April Krog, who had been badly burned on July 4th, 1985 in a fireworks accident. Along with many sponsors, donations and hard work of many, the car show was able to have 150 participants and hundreds of spectators. Through these efforts, Wheels For Charity was able to raise over $1,200.00 for the benefit of the Krog sisters.
PRESENT: Today, as a result of the first car show, the Siouxland Car Council with its 14 participating car clubs, host Blacktop Fever Poker Run in the spring and the Wheels For Charity car show in the fall. Both of the events along with the Wednesday night cruises are held to raise funds for specific children and/or children's charities. Since the first car show, the Siouxland Car Council has given more than $150,000.00 to children's charities such as the Children's Inn, Ronald McDonald House, Children's Home Society, Salvation Army, Shirner's Transportation Fund and YWCA to name a few, along with children that have specific needs. All of the proceeds raised, STAY in the Sioux Empire area.
FUTURE: With your support and generous donations, we can continue to provide funds for these children and children's charities.
Thank you, Kevin Kappenman President - Siouxland Car Council
