Dell Rapids Modifiers

You know it's a great community when it can support a sizeable car club.  And Dell Rapids may not be a big city, but it is home  to the Modifiers of Dell Rapids Car Club, which boasts a membership of about 25 families.

The Modifiers invite any and all types of vehicles into their club for the purpose of providing opportunities for members to enjoy a mutual interest in automobiles as well as related hobbies.  They seek to promote a safe and well-guided environment for the membership to gather and be of service to their community and state.  They seek to include their community as well as surrounding communities in participating in the automobile hobby.

One of the main activities of the Modifiers of Dell Rapids Car Club is the organization of the popular annual Dell Rapids car show that is held the last Sunday in June in June in conjunction with the Dell Rapids Quarry Days celebration.  This year's show will be the 18th consecutive year it has been held.

In addition, the club holds cruises, pot-luck meals and other social gatherings.  The club meets monthly on the first Thursday of each month.  The meetings held June through September usually include shared pot-luck meals at the Dells City Park.  The other months generally involve gathering at various eating establishments or a pot-luck dinner at a member's ship.

The club was first organized in 1957, but became inactive in 1960.  It was reborn in 1998 and some of the original members remain active today.  The current president is John Muhle, while Mike Lacey is serving as vice president.

The Modifiers are also affiliated with the Dell Rapids Chamber of Commerce and the Siouxland Car Council.
